Bright Lights. Great City?
Several recently completed buildings in downtown Dallas—the Omni Hotel, Hunt Tower, Gables Park 17 and others— have drawn attention for their use of LED lighting technologies. Even Reunion Tower has updated its 1970’s display to colored lights. What is the impact of this phenomenon on the image of our city center? Does it enhance the vibrancy of our downtown? Does it add to the architecture or is it merely used to mask less-than-great design? Does it attract urban dwellers or simply keep them up at night? Our panel of architects, urban planners and citizens will debate these topics and many more.
