Architecture Things to Do This Weekend
Looks like it's going to be a great weekend in North Texas to get out and about and check out some architecture. Here are some ideas.
I'm headed west to see the Andy Warhol show at the Ando-designed Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Georgia O’Keefe exhibition at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, but won't pass up the opportunity to admire the other great museum buildings in the district while I’m there. Philip Johnson’s Amon Carter. Louis Kahn’s Kimball. And the newest in the neighborhood, Legoretta + Legoretta’s Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Architectural Record has a review.
I wish I could head even further west for Modernism Week in Palm Springs. Time magazine has its preview here. I love me some mid-century minimalism, but will have to wait until the White Rock Home Tour (and the exhibition we’re co-presenting here at the Center) for a more local fix.
And, of course, if you’re looking for something to do, there’s always the things we have going on here. A local architect has started a blog worth your read…and he is kind enough to endorse the interesting stuff we’re coming up with. Check it out here.
Come see us!
